NZIF 2023: Wrap-Up

Well, the dust has finally settled on the 2023 New Zealand Improv Festival.

Our first Festival back was one of our biggest to date. 188 people took part as teachers, directors, performers, speakers, and workshop attendees.

1533 tickets were booked for 28 shows, the second highest box office in the Festival’s history. 574 places were booked in 35 workshops, the highest in the Festival’s history.

We'd like to take a moment to thank some of our big supporters this year.

Wellington City Council provided funding to the Festival through both their 'Living Wage for Events' fund and 'Arts and Culture' fund. This funding helped us pay for the excellent production team and stage crew that made our shows slick and professional, and paying a living wage. Thanks WCC!!

The New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) provided funding to offset the cost of our venue hire this year. Thank you very much NZCT!

Caffeinated Dragon Games generously supported the production costs involved in presenting Can I Get An Underground Location and a Mythical Creature — go check out their shop!

Several of our partners generously offered in-kind support this year, including BATS Theatre, The Cambridge Hotel, and Phantom Billstickers. We're very grateful, thank you!

And finally one last thanks to you, our amazing community, for contributing to our Boosted campaign to help make the Festival happen. You're all amazing.

NZIF will be back from 4–12 October 2024. Sign up to our participant mailer or audience mailer for updates!
