NZIT: 2022 Wrap Up

Meri kirihimete and happy holidays to our improv whānau at home and abroad! Here’s a brief update before we all down tools and enjoy the season.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR: Expressions of Interest

Rik Brown (Melbourne) winning the All In All Out Improv Bout in 2019. Who will take on the mantle of directing our beloved festival?

We will soon be putting out a call for Expressions of Interest in the role of Artistic Director for the NZ Improv Festival. We want to engage someone to oversee and creatively lead the festival (and any affiliated events) for a 3 year period (2023-2025). This person will be responsible for designing and delivering the festival with the support of the board and with additional contracted project staff. It will be a paid, part-time contract and we are really excited about this next step in the festival’s journey!

A full description and invitation is on its way, but we wanted to give you the chance to start thinking about it - and let us know you’d like to be contacted directly when it’s open! If that sounds like you, click here, give us your details and we will be in touch.

developing the board

With two new members and some ambitious plans in the works, our board has been working hard behind the scenes to get the NZ Improvisation Trust running smoothly. Part of this is about making sure we are doing the best job we can be, and in early 2023 we’ll be embarking on some governance training through the Institute of Directors. Along with that we are dreaming and scheming of the best ways NZIT can serve our national improv community - if you’d like to send us your suggestions, get in touch with Jen!

MAKING CONNECTIONS

We’re starting to make more use of our LinkedIn page thanks to the expertise of our new marketing enthusiast Lisa Garrity. If you’re into networking that way, follow our page and join the conversations coming in 2023.

Our best wishes to you all - we hope you’ve had a cracker year in your improv communities and we look forward to connecting with you in the new year.
