Improv groups in aotearoa

As with many things, Aotearoa punches well above its weight when it comes to improvised theatre and improv comedy.

The New Zealand Improv Trust maintains a list of active improv companies, schools and ensembles throughout the country, comprising nearly fifty groups from Whangarei to Waihōpai.

This list is designed as a snapshot of improv in the country, for improv practitioners to get in touch with each other, and for touring artists to find potential collaborators.

Any group whose work includes some aspect of improvisation, spontaneity and randomness is welcome to be part of the list. Some companies’ details have been provided to NZIT directly, others have been sourced from available information online.
