Spotlight On: Rik Brown
Rik Brown has been a member of Impro Melbourne for the past 15 years. He has taught and performed improvisation throughout Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands. Rik is known for his mischievous style, sharp mind and strong grasp of Character and Narrative. He brings a playful and engaging approach to the art of improvisation.
Tell us a bit about your show and the idea behind it, and why/how it excites you.
Plot Mess is a show that strives to break free of Narrative chains! I'm excited to see how much fun we can have pushing each other into chaos!
What show other than your own are you most excited to see? Why?
Can't wait to see Mothers! I suspect this will be seriously compelling improv with a meaty emotional core!
What's the best thing about improv?
The ability it has to connect people creatively.
How would you describe your personal improv style?
Fleet of mind and narratively supple....with a hint of mischief.
Weirdest/best way improv has helped you in daily life?
It low-key provides the very foundation of who I am and how I function.
What's going to be the NEXT BIG THING in improv?
Virtual Reality Improv.
