Liz Butler

Liz Butler

This is an all-levels welcome workshop based on character discovery. Explore your walk, your voice, your perspective and your center of gravity. By the end of the workshop you will have the tools to create new characters whenever you like. This will be a positive and supportive space for you to learn new techniques for adding depth to your characterisation, or to experiment with that new character who’s been sitting at the back of your mind.

Liz Butler is an avid, dedicated improvisor based in Wellington who has been performing for the past ten years. Her early improv passions led her to pursue the craft in many forms: devised theatre, short form, long form, musical, realistic and accidental in the supermarket. In Denver she created improv based shows, “Neighborhood Book Club”, “Tightrope” and she helped codevelop a show called “Sasquash”. During lockdown Liz initiated a biweekly improv show called “Improv From Your Very Own Computer” that took place on Zoom for international players. Last year at the NZIF she taught a class on connecting with your scene partner. Currently she plays with the Hall Monitors and teaches with Improv Connection.
