Exercise your funny bones and discover the joys of seriously clowning around in a practical workshop that teaches the fundamentals of how to build comic routines. Topics covered will include working the audience, directing and object theatre. Through improvisation, music and play participants will learn about timing, working with the breath and the importance of breaking the rhythm.

Breaking the rhythm is the backbone to generating laughter. Using breathing techniques to punctuate rhythm changes helps the audience to clearly follow the action. The clown overtime becomes skilled at manipulating the audience’s breathing, getting them to breathe in and out when they want them too. This direct relationship keeps the show alive as everybody shares the same moments together.

After a glittering career in menswear Fraser Hooper gave it all up to follow the red nose. Thirty years on his unique brand of award winning comedy has delighted thousands of audiences worldwide. A much sought after clown tutor he has taught in over twenty countries and was for twelve years the resident clown teacher at The National Centre for Circus in London. At present there are no plans to go back to menswear.

“Fraser delivers clearly and with much joy, the principles and practices that make his own work as a clown so brilliant. I came away with solid tools for creation and performance that will have a positive impact on my own work for years to come."" Pete Sweet USA

“I learnt more about stage craft in his workshop than I’d learnt in years of training, Fraser Hooper is brilliant.” Suzanne Andrade, 1927 Company, UK

“I didn't hate it."" Victor Rubilar, Argentina
